Children’s Division
(Preschool through Pre Ballet 2)  

Children ages 5 and up can gain valuable skills as a part of PCABT's Children’s Division. From Pre Ballet 1A through Pre Ballet 3, students learn large motor skills, ballet terminology and barre work as they progress through these classes.  All Children’s Division students perform in the Summer Concert.  Students in Pre Ballet 2 and Pre Ballet 3 are also asked to perform in the Winter Concert. 

Preschool (ages 3, 4, & 5):  This class is designed for our youngest dancers who wish to explore the art of dance and movement.  This class meets forty-five minutes per week and introduces dancers to basic ballet and body movements. 

Special Needs (all ages):  This class is designed for dancers who have profound special needs and wish to explore various methods of dance.  This class meets one hour per week and introduces dancers to basic ballet and tap movements. 

Pre Ballet 1A (ages 5, 6, & 7):  This class is designed for younger dancers who are just beginning their ballet training.  Dancers will learn how to work facing the barre as well as how to carry themselves in the center.  This class meets one hour per week and introduces dancers to the basic vocabulary and positions.   

Pre Ballet 1 (ages 6, 7, & 8):  This class is designed for dancers who have met the requirements Pre Ballet 1A.  In this class, dancers continue to work on basic positions while increasing ballet vocabulary and gaining muscle control.  Tap is added at this level.  Students learn basic tap vocabulary.  This class has an hour ballet class and a half hour tap class each week.     

Pre Ballet 2:  This class is designed for dancers who have met the requirements Pre Ballet 1.  In this class, dancers continue to work on basic muscle control while increasing ballet vocabulary.  In tap, students continue to increase their vocabulary and begin to put combinations of steps together.  This class has an hour of ballet class and a half hour tap class each week.     

Pre Ballet 3:  This class is designed for dancers who have met the requirements Pre Ballet 2. In this class, dancers continue to work on increasing muscle control, vocabulary, and the ability to quickly learn combinations of steps.  In tap, students learn more complex combinations and steps. This class meets two times each week:  The first day for a 1hour ballet class with 30 minutes of tap, and the second day for a 1 ½ hour ballet class  

 Pre-Professional Division
(Pre Ballet 3 through Ballet 3)

 PCABT’s pre-professional division continues the work of learning ballet technique. This division consists of Ballet I and Ballet 2, where students continue to perfect the basic ballet positions, progression of a standard ballet barre, the French vocabulary is used in ballet class.  Students move into centre work away from the support of the barre. Students move through these levels as their mind and body are able to assimilate the requirements, some staying in a level 2 years or more and some moving through much more quickly. They are moved to the next level at the discretion of the Artistic Director. Students in PCABT’s pre-professional division are eligible to perform in The Summer and Winter Concerts. 

Pre Ballet 3:  This class is designed for dancers who have met the requirements Pre Ballet 2. In this class, dancers continue to work on increasing muscle control, vocabulary, and learning combinations of steps.  In tap, students learn more complex combinations and steps. Jazz is also introduced at this level.  Students will learn basic stretches, isolations, and jazz vocabulary.   This class meets two times each week:  1 ½ hour ballet class, a 1hour ballet class with 30 minutes of tap, and 45 minutes of jazz.   (3 hours and 45 min/week)  

Ballet 1:  This class is designed for dancers who have met the requirements Pre Ballet 3.  In this class, dancers continue to work on increasing muscle strength, vocabulary, and the ability to learn combinations of more complex steps while incorporating head and arm movement.  In tap, students learn steps that require increased balance.  In jazz, students continue to increase their jazz vocabulary and learn combinations of steps.  This class meets two times each week:  1 1/2 hour ballet class with 30 minutes of tap, a 1 1/2 hour ballet class, and a 45 minute jazz class. (4 hours and 15 min/week) 

Ballet 2:  This class is designed for dancers who have met the requirements Ballet 1.  Dancers in this class are beginning to prepare to work on pointe.  These students are expected to be dedicated and focused on their ballet training.  They work to increase strength and vocabulary and ability to quickly learn combinations of steps.  In tap, students learn new steps and also work to increase speed and agility.  In jazz, students continue to increase their jazz vocabulary and learn combinations of steps.  This class meets three times each week:   Three 1 1/2 hour ballet classes, 30 minutes of tap, and 45 min of jazz.  (5 hours and 45 min/week) 

Ballet 3:  This class is designed for dancers who have met the requirements Ballet 2.  Dancers in this class are working on pointe.  These students are expected to be dedicated and focused on their ballet training.  They work to increase strength and vocabulary and ability to quickly learn combinations of steps.  In tap, students learn new steps and also work to increase speed and agility.  In jazz, students continue to increase their jazz vocabulary and learn combinations of steps.  This class meets three times each week:   Two 1 1/2 hour ballet classes, One 1 ¾ hour ballet class, 1 hour of pointe, 30 minutes of tap, and 45 min of jazz. (7 hours /week)
