creating art through movement

LydiaLydia A. Creasy, Artistic Director

Miss Creasy began her training at age three under the direction of Holly Mora at the Capital Area Dance Theater in Enola, PA.  At age nine, she was accepted into Pennsylvania Regional Ballet (formerly Cumberland Dance Company), a pre-professional dance company under the direction of Sandra Carlino.  Her teachers have included Richard Cook, Luis Fuente, Jeffrey Gribler, Melinda Howe, Alexander Kaschock, Kirsten Kaschock, Cherie Noble, Jonathan Phelps, Trinette Singleton, and Patricia Sorrell.  These master teachers have trained and taught at companies such as Pennsylvania Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and others.

She attended intensive summer programs at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Allegheny Ballet, and Pennsylvania Regional Ballet.  She has performed in various storybook ballets such as:  Cinderella, Snow White, Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, and Peter and the Wolf.  She has also participated in and performed in various Regional Dance America Festivals for the Northeast Region with Pennsylvania Regional Ballet.

After graduating from high school, Miss Creasy participated in the dance program at the George Washington University under the direction of Vladimir Angelov.  She then transferred to the University of Pittsburgh to pursue a degree in Elementary Education.

While studying at the University of Pittsburgh, Miss Creasy performed and trained with the Johnstown Concert Ballet in Johnstown, PA.

Miss Creasy began teaching dance at age thirteen when she was asked to help with ballet and tap classes.  Throughout high school, she was responsible for teaching various ballet, tap, and jazz classes at the Capital Area Dance Theater.  It is through these classes that she discovered her love for teaching.  During her studies in Johnstown, Miss Creasy created a ballet program for ice skaters at Planet Ice in Johnstown, PA.  In December 2003, Miss Creasy began teaching first grade at Providence Creek Academy Charter School where she has worked to create the Providence Creek Academy Ballet Theater.

Joanna Saxberg, Ballet & Tap Faculty

Mrs. Turner began her training at age five under the instruction of Ann Smith, where she danced through age fourteen.  During her years as a student, she learned excerpts from storybook ballets such as Nutcracker and Swan Lake.  She was also trained in ballet, tap, and jazz throughout her years as a dancer.

In the fall 2005, she showed an interest in assisting with the ballet program at PCA.  During her time with PCABT, she has become the administrative assistant, substitute, and helper in the younger levels.  She now teaches ballet and tap for all Pre Ballet 1 levels.

Kristen Black, Ballet, Tap, and Jazz Faculty

Mrs. Black began her training at the age of 2 ½ under the direction of Jean Ferrill.  Over her more than 15 years with the studio, she was trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and theatre dance.  Through the studio she began performing with a group for local nursing homes; she also took many classes with Doug Graham and Katherine Campbell during her summer vacations.  She then began teaching with the studio more than ten years ago.  Through this experience, Mrs. Black discovered her love of teaching dance, especially with the preschool age children.

Mrs. Black earned a degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Delaware and has recently starting working for Providence Creek Academy as a first grade teacher.  She is very excited to be a part of the Ballet Theater and is very enthusiastic about starting the preschool program within it.
